Enjoy the “movie theatre” experience, right here in our community

The Kawartha Lakes Film Circuit was formed in 2013 by a group of volunteers .

We are the curating team behind Films by the Falls, a film series and a member of the TIFF Film Circuit.

The first Films by the Falls screening was held on March 25, 2014 at Fenelon Falls Secondary School.

Our Mission

Our committee strives to share our passion for movies and theatrical “storytelling”, by bringing local residents the opportunity to experience the world through film.

What We've Achieved

  • over 5 seasons we have continued to bring Canadian and International films to the Kawartha Lakes audience

  • through our community partnerships and fundraising we were able to donate a new sound system and film projection screen to the Fenelon Falls Secondary School in 2018

  • we have provided learning experiences to FFSS students that have interned with our program

  • in 2015 we received the TIFF Film Circuit’s award for Best Special Event for our Icelandic themed pre-show party “Land-Ho”.

  • again, in 2017 we were honoured with the TIFF Film Circuit award for Best Community Promotion of a Canadian Film, acknowledging the Art Show we held pre-show for our screening of “Maudie”, and a special visit from Maudie’s Producer, Mary Young Leckie.

We love films because they makes us feel something.
They speak to our desires, which are never small. They allow us to escape and to dream and to gaze into the eyes that are impossibly beautiful and huge.
